Making a garage sign with the Novelty License Plate Generator
Difficulty: easy. Time: 10 minutes. Methods: laser cutting or 3D printing.
A novelty plate is a classic garage, man-cave, and she-shed sign. Start from a preset like MY OTHER CAR IS A BROOM, then make the text your own.
Choose mounting holes or corner slots so you can screw it to a wall, fence, or workbench.

What You'll Need
- A two-tone sheet, for example double-color acrylic, brushed chrome engraves black
- A laser, or an FDM printer
- Screws or standoffs if you use the mounting holes
Step 1 - Size and text
Pick a preset or type the top, main, and bottom lines. The default size matches the classic 12 x 6 inch plate look.
Step 2 - Border and mounting
Toggle the decorative border and choose a mounting style: none, two holes, or four corner slots.
Choose Your Build Method
Cut and mount
Download the SVG: the outline and holes cut, the text and border engrave. Mount it with screws through the holes.
Make It Yours
- Garage, man-cave, she-shed, and dorm signs
- Team names, inside jokes, and dealership giveaways
- Keep it novelty; it is not a real registration plate
