Making Easter egg ornaments with the Egg Ornament Generator
Difficulty: easy. Time: 10 minutes design, 15-30 minutes making. Best methods: layered laser-cut acrylic, multicolor 3D printing.
An egg with a name banner wrapped across it - the laser version of grandma's painted eggs. Type the name in Ornament Text and shape the ribbon with Banner Curvature, Banner Height, and Banner Text Size; the name follows the banner's sweep. Pick a Design Type: Single Layer for one piece, Two Layer for a Backplate plus Front with Text, or Three Layer to add a separate Frame for depth. Name Text Size, Letter Spacing Adjustment, and Text Offset fine-tune the fit, and Thickness drives the 3D export.

What You'll Need
- Laser cutting: 3 mm pastel acrylic - spring colors are the point - or laser-grade plywood
- Assembly: 3M 467 tape or CA glue for layered builds
- 3D printing: any FDM printer with a color swap for the banner
- Finishing: ribbon for basket handles and branches
Step 1 - Name and banner
Enter the name and play with Banner Curvature until the ribbon flows naturally across the egg's belly. Banner Height and Banner Text Size set how bold the band reads; use Letter Spacing Adjustment to relax long names along the curve.
Step 2 - Layers and size
- Two-layer is the sweet spot: pastel backplate, white front with the cut banner text showing the color through.
- Eggs around 70-90 mm tall hang well from Easter branches; smaller ones tuck into baskets.
- Nudge Text Offset so the name sits visually centered between the egg's curves.
Step 3 - Export
Download the SVG with each layer as its own path, or set Thickness and export STL/3MF for printing.
Choose Your Build Method
Laser cutting
- Cut backplate and front from contrasting pastels and bond with 3M tape.
- Single-layer plywood eggs look great with the banner engraved instead of cut - run text as engrave in your laser software.
- Batch the whole egg hunt: names nest tightly, a dozen eggs per small sheet.
- Add ribbon and hang from a budding branch centerpiece.
Make It Yours
- Name eggs as Easter basket tags - every basket gets its owner's egg.
- First Easter egg with the baby's name and year.
- Place-setting eggs for Easter brunch, one per guest.
- Glitter white front over a gold backplate for a fancier mantel egg.
- Engrave a zigzag or floral band on the egg body before cutting for the painted-egg feel.
- Hang a graduated set of sizes from an egg tree branch.
- Pair with the Carrot Name Tag for a full spring set.
